Udupi: Police suspect that the powder-like substance found in the box recovered from Aditya Rao’s Karnataka Bank locker is cyanide.
It can be recalled that Aditya Rao, a native of Manipal, stands accused of planting a bomb at the Mangaluru International Airport on January 20.
After the police found out that Rao had a locker with the Karnataka Bank’s Kunjibettu branch in Udupi, a team, led by ACP K U Belliappa, took the accused to the bank to open the locker. Apart from finding a bag and some documents, the police also found a box filled with a power, which Rao told police, is cyanide.
As per reports, one of Rao’s relatives told police that he intended to commit suicide by consuming poison.
The police have sent the box to a forensic lab for testing.
