Udupi: The Hebri Police during patrol rounds seized 33 live country-made bombs and arrested three people at Albadi near Shankernayana here on November 22.
Three arrested are Nagesh Nayak (35), son of Krishna Nayak of Arkunje, Kanyana, Hebri, Gunakar Shetty (56), son of Krishnaya Shetty, Ardi, Albadi Grama and Laxman Shetty (67), son of Bojju Shetty, Sirangoor, Madamakki, Albadi Grama.
Speaking to media persons at a press meet at SP office, Dr. Sanjeev M Patil, Superintendent of Police said that during the patrol round on November 22, Hebri Police Station Sub Inspector Jagannath T T along with the team, on a tip off, stopped a two–wheeler rider Nagesh Nayak near Shivpura. They found a torch and knife in his bike. During the interrogation, Nagesh Nayak admitted that he was going to the forest to trap wild animals with country made bombs and purchased each bomb for Rs 500 and paid Rs 15000 for the manufacturer Gunakar Shetty.
The police then seized over 30 country made bombs from Nagesh Nayak.
Karkala Sub Division DySP Rishikesh Sonavane, Karkala Circle Inspector Joy Anthony and Hebri Police Station SI Jagannath TT questioned the accused and are further investigating. A sum of Rs 5000 has been announced as a reward for the team by the district police department.
