Police arrest six including ZP member in Kota double murder case-1Udupi: Police have so far arrested six accused including a Zilla Panchayat member from the BJP, on charges of murdering Yathish Kanchan and Bharat Poojary at Chikkanakere, Manuru, Kota on January 26.

Rajashekar Reddy (44) and Ravi alias Medical Ravi (42) from Madikeri were arrested on Thursday, February 7. Four other accused were arrested from Hosanagara in Shivmogga district on Friday, February 8. The arrested are Harish Reddy (40) brother of Rajashekar Reddy, who is also one of the accused, Mahesh Kumar alias Mahesh Ganiga (38) from Kodavoor, M Ravichandra Poojary alias Ravi (28) from Laximinagar, Kodavoor and Raghavendra Kanchan (38).

Raghavendra Kanchan who is a BJP Zilla Panchayat member, has been a rowdy sheeter, and has already faced an attempt to murder case.

Sources from the police say that, Raghavendra Kanchan has been in constant touch with Rajashekar Reddy over phone since several days. According to reports, Rajashekar Reddy immediately made a call to Raghavendra Kanchan after the double murder.

Superintendent of Police, Laxman Nimbargi, stated that all accused have been produced to the court, and the department has appealed for their custody for a speedy of probe in the murder case.

Reddy brothers who hail from Andhra Pradesh settled in Kota several years back. Both Harish Reddy and Rajashekar Reddy face several criminal cases in various police stations in the district.

Police investigation teams led by Udupi Dy SP Jaishankar succeeded to arrest the six accused and more arrests are expected. District Crime Intelligence Bureau (DCIB) Inspector, Kiran, Circle Inspector, Brahmavar, Srikanth, Sampath of Women’s police station, Udupi Circle Inspector Manjunath, and Kaup Circle Inspector Mahesh Prasad led the police teams to nab the accused.
