Udupi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Karnataka for the final campaign round before the Assembly elections. The campaign is set to begin on May 1. This time however, it is unsure if the Prime Minister will be visiting the Sri Krishna Math here, according to Raghupathy Bhat, BJP candidate of the Udupi Assembly constituency.
Speaking to the media at the District BJP office at Kadiyali on Sunday, April 29, Raghupathy Bhat said thatowing to the tight schedule of the election campaign the Narendra Modi may not be able to visit the Sri Krishna Math.
District BJP president Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, who also spoke at the press meet said that Narendra Modi will arrive at Adi Udupi Helipad at 2.50 pm on Tuesday, May 1. There after he will move to the M.G.M. College Ground for the election campaign meeting. Mattar also requested that the people gather in at the ground before 1 pm.
Mattar informed the media about the chances of a traffic standstill. Around one lakh people expected to be in attendance and in anticipation of this, full ground pandal would be arranged. Water and butter milk will be provided to the participants, he added.
Apart from the Udupi district, people are also expected to come from Karwar and Kumuta. The candidates of Udupi, Karwar and Kumuta will also be present on the dais.
Dr. Mahendra Singh, minister of UP and other local leaders will also be present on the dais. With the permission of the election commission, Udupi city will be decorated with “kesari” (saffron) flags and buntings.
Dr. Mahendra Singh, Kerala BJP General Secretary Surendran, Kota Srinivas Poojary, local leaders Uday Kumar Shetty, Suresh Nayak Kulaidy, Sandhya Ramesh and Prem Prasad of Yuva Morcha were present.
