Karkala: This is the pathetic story of two brothers with big dreams in their eyes, but whose physical disability has come in the way of their future. The brothers named Akshaya and Aditya are residents of Kunjibettu in Kowdur village of Karkala taluk.
Children of Vinay Kumar, Prameela couple, the two were healthy at birth and had even attended primary school. However, by the time they reached seventh standard, their legs were crippled making it unable to attend school as they were totally dependent on others. Still, a local autorickshaw driver named Dinesh was kind enough to take the two brothers to school in his vehicle.
Akshay thus completed his PUC(Commerce) from Bailur Government PU College by scoring 68 per cent marks. However, his dreams of pursuing a B.Com degree were nipped in the bud as it was practically difficult for him to go to the college at Karkala which was 16 kms away. On the other hand his brother Aditya has passed his tenth standard by scoring 54 per cent and decided to bid good bye to studies.
The poor family comprising the parents of Aditya and Akshay, their sister Ananya a class six student, 94 year old grandfather and 86 year old grandmother is completely shattered and worried over the fate of the two boys. Meanwhile their sister Ananya is healthy and a talented girl who is bright in studies.
Vinay Kumar says his sons were quite healthy when they were residing in Bekal in Kerala. His suspects that his sons suffered disability due to the deadly Endosulfan. After consulting doctors, even the Tahsildar has given a medical certificate in this regard.
Already the family has taken the two to several doctors for treatment but of no avail. Presently, the family is hoping that kind hearted people would come to the aid of the t boys and build a bright future for them.
