Udupi: Tonnes of silverfish, known as ‘bolanjir’in Tulu got deposited on shores of Hejamady on Wednesday, leaving people jump in glee.
As the fish showed up on the shores, a large number of people thronged the Amsekere area to grab some for themselves.
While the reason behind this rare occurrence is not known, locals were seen filling fish in buckets, bags and containers. Some even brought their nets and grabbed huge catch. The otherwise sullen and silent area suddenly turned into a bustling spot of activity for some hours.
