Udupi: Former KRV leader and chief of ‘Pejawar Swamiji Muslim Fans Association’ Udupi Ansar Ahmed has filed a complaint at Udupi Town Police Station on Wednesday, December 5 against Manjunath Swamy, Regional Special Sampark Head of Vishwa Hindu Parishat for making a controversial statement against Islam and the Muslim community.
Addressing the gathering during Janagraha meet in Udupi on Sunday, December 2, Manjunath Swamy said that the Muslims are all terrorists and Islam is not a religion. “Quran is a manifesto of Islam. Muslims need not compulsorily go to a mosque. They pray in bus stands and even in the toilets. Why they need a mosque in Ayodhya,” Manjunath questioned.
After filing the complaint at Udupi Town Police station, Ansar Ahmed said that the VHP leader has hurt the sentiments of the Muslim community with his public statement. His intention may have been to disturb peace in the society.
“We as Muslims are determined to work towards peace in the society. People from Udupi are specifically peace-loving. There have been attempts even in the past to distrupt communal harmony in the district, but they never succeeded. Muslim from this district have been taking part in various Hindu events by providing eatables and beverages,” he said adding that peace is all what the Muslim community wants.
