Udupi: Pejawar Math Seer Sri Vishwesha Thirtha Swamiji is known for his unconventional decisions that in a way have always broken the rigidity of the Ashta Math principles. From visiting the Dalit colonies to having lunch with them, the senior seer has left brows raised at several instances in the past and scripting yet another history he administered ‘Sanyasa Deeksha’ (initiation to monastic order) to 34-year-old Bharath Raje Urs, here on Monday.
What is historic is the fact that the 34-year-old engineer is not from the Brahminical order.

After the deeksha, Bharath Urs was named Vishwadhiraja Tirtha Swami. He has been nominated as the first peethadhipati or seer of the Sri Rajarajeshwari Samasthana Kshatriya Peetha. The rituals for the same started off at the Sri Krishna Temple premises from Saturday.

Nearly 400 members of the Rajakshatriya community from Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Bengaluru, Mysuru and Tumakuru witnessed the rituals and the pattabhisheka ceremonies here.

Son of Hemaraje Urs and S.P. Jyothi, Bharath Raje Urs completed his engineering degree in Electronics and Communications from Manipal Institute of Technology here in 2000.

He studied the Shastras at Shrimat Bhagavatha Vidyapeetha in Mathura and also served for eight years at the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). He also served as the convener of the conference on cows (Go-sammelan) here last year.
