Udupi: All necessary precautions have been taken to control the spread of coronavirus in the district and the public should not fear based on rumours, said District Health and Family Welfare Officer Sudheer Chandra Suda.
He was speaking at a press conference at the District Health and Family Welfare Office on Saturday, February 1.
An informative workshop has been organised for all the Health Department’s Programme Administrators, Community Health Centre representatives, Physicians of Taluk Hospitals and District Hospital Specialists on coronavirus control, he said.
The District Hospital has set up 2 ICUs with a 5-bed separate ward and ventilator to record suspected coronavirus infected patients in Udupi. Emergency task force has been set up at the district, taluk, primary health centres and community health centres. We will receive every day reports from concerned healthcare centers, he said.
Suda said that the health department has taken steps to conduct health education in the district on coronal symptoms and to distribute leaflets to householders through Asha and Anganwadi workers.
Department staff has been instructed to monitor the health conditions of people who return from overseas and abroad. “We are in constant contact with MAHE regarding the students from abroad. KMC also stated that a separate ward with 9 beds was set up to record the suspected patients, and that there was an inventory of all personal protective equipment including the N-95 mask,” he said.
