Udupi: The new building of the Udupi Urban Development Authority was inaugurated on March 21 at Adi, near Udupi, built on a 25 cent land at a cost of Rs 1 Crore.
The building was inaugurated by Pramod Madhwaraj, District In-charge Minister and Minister of State for Fisheries, Sports and Youth Empowerment. Speaking on the occasion, Madhwaraj said, “There is a need for systematic urban development. Otherwise it will affect the future generation.”
He added that the public and the urban development authorities need to work together for the development of the urban areas. “In the last four years, 22 lakes were developed by the Udupi Urban Development Authority at a cost of Rs 6 Crore. Rs 2.5 Crore was spent for the development of four parks in order to enhance the beauty of the city and more than Rs 10 Crore have been spent to develop the roads and conduct other developmental activities”, said the minister.
He also stated that the taxpayer’s money was put to good use without any wastage.
The Commissioner of Udupi Urban Development Authority Janardhan welcomed the gathering on the occasion.
