Mysuru: For the first time in Karnataka, the Karnataka State Volleyball Association for Physically Challenged will be conducting national-level beach volleyball for physically challenged at Malpe Beach, near Udupi, from September 26 to 29.
MR Mahesh Gowda, General Secretary, Karnataka State Volleyball Association for Physically Challenged said that the aim of the tourney is to prepare the country to put up an outstanding show at the Beach Volleyball World Cup that will be hosted by India for the first time in 2019.
“Teams from 15 states are expected to take part in the event,” he added. It can be brought to light that in 2012 world cup for physically challenged was held in Germany and Indian team stood second while host Germany emerged as champions.
Selection trials: To select Karnataka beach volleyball team, Karnataka State Volleyball Association for Physically Challenged will be conducting selection trials at Kanteerava Stadium volleyball court on September 23 at 11.30 am. Those interested to take part in the selection trials should bring necessary documents including the disability certificates, two photos showing the disability and Aadhaar card or voter ID.
