National level Silver Cricket League 2018 for doctors begins on Apr 11-1

Udupi: The Udupi District Cricket Association (UDCA) and Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), a deemed University have joined hands to organise the Silver Cricket League (SCL) 2018, a National level T20 Cricket Tournament for doctors. The event will be held from April 11 to 15 at the End Point Green Grounds, in Manipal near here.

Powered by Medilab India Ltd., the cricket event is being organised in order to celebrate MAHE's silver jubilee.

Addressing the media at the Udupi Press Club, Udupi District Cricket Association President Dr. Krishna Prasad said that the tournament would commence with an inauguration ceremony at 8.45 AM on April 11 at the venue.

Calling Manipal the home of SCL 2018, he said that it was every cricket lover's dream. "Relive the days when your 'Yorkers' were feared, or when your sixes would leave the bowlers astounded. SCL 2018 is an amalgamation of doctors with a background in medicine, dentistry, Ayurveda, homeopathy and other allied sciences with an equally professional attitude in the game of cricket to intersperse with their counterparts from various parts of the country", he said.

He also announced that the tournament would be live streamed through the Silver Cricket League's Facebook page and the live scoring and ball to ball commentary would be available on

"In all, 10 teams will be participating from across the country in the first-ever edition of the Silver Cricket League at Manipal. Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Calicut, Thane, Pune, Goa, Mangaluru, Mumbai and Manipal are some of the teams participating. Doctors from these teams shall showcase their skills with the bat and ball", he added.

Tournament Convener and MAHE Sports Secretary Dr. Vinod Nayak, Dr. Naveen Patil, Medilab India Ltd. Managing Director Jyothi Prasad Hegde and Udupi Cricket Association General Secretary Balakrishna Parkala were present during the press meet.
