Udupi: In a tragic accident, two people lost their lives when a Maruthi Alto jumped a divider and collided head on, with an oncming truck laden with fish. The accident occured in Moorukai on the NH 66 near Kota, on December 12.
The deceased have been identified as Girija (52) and her son Avinash (27), residents of Barkur Bennkundru.
According to sources, the duo were on their way from Saligrama to attend a programme near Kota, when the car went out of control after an attempt to avoid a collision with a bike approaching from the opposite direction.
There were a total of four people in the car, of which the mother and son died on the spot, and the other two were gravely injured. The injured members have been admitted in a private hospital in Manipal. The car has been completely damaged.
A case has been registered by the Kota police.
