Udupi: Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, there seems to be a large split in the opinion as to who will form the next government at the centre. While some are convinced that the “Modi-wave” is strong in the country, there are many who are more than willing to point out why that is not the case.
Voicing his opinion on the issue at the premises of the Matt on June 1, Seer of the Pejawar Math, Vishveshwara Theertha Swamiji said that over the course of the last four years, the rule of the central government has not been satisfactory. Even though Modi has been successful in controlling the corruption to some extent, his failure to bring back the black money stashed abroad and to clean the river Ganga will be a setback for the central government, he opined.
“The central government has not fulfilled all of the promises that they made before they came to power. Measures such as the “note ban” and GST have been good for the country. Cleansing of the river Ganga is more important that the building of the Ram Temple,” said the seer.
Speaking about the situation of the farmers in the country, the seer said that so far the government had failed to bring in reforms for the farmers who are the backbone of the country. “The government should at least implement some schemes for the farmers in the one year that is remaining”, the seer added.
The seer also expressed his dissatisfaction with all political parties and accused them of distorting democracy by crude means such as “Operation Kamala” (Resort Politics). Addressing the media, the seer said that in the case of a Hung Assembly, all parties must come together to form the government. “The all-party government model followed in England should also be introduced here so that development is not interrupted”, the seer opined.
