Udupi: In order to solve the sand crisis that has been causing chaos in the district, MLA Raghupathy Bhat and former MP Jayaprakash Hegde went to New Delhi to hold talks with Rithesh Singh, Joint Secretary of the Forest and Environment Department on Friday, November 2.

After talks with the high-level official, MLA Raghupathy Bhat said that they received a positive response with regard to the matter.

During the meeting, Rithesh Singh reportedly told Bhat and Hegde that Rajendra Kataria, the Principal Secretary of the state Mines Department had also approached him about the same issue.

Bhat said that since the preliminary talks with the concerned department were done, they would personally meet Dr Harshavardan, Union Minister for Environment, next week and discuss the sand problem. “Our efforts to solve the issue will be met with a positive response,” he said.
