Udupi: Udupi District In-charge Minister Dr. Jayamala inaugurated the 10-bedded district AYUSH Hospital in the compound of the district general hospital at Ajjarkad here on Wednesday, November 21, 2018.
The AYUSH Hospital was established at a cost of Rs 1.40 Crore in 50 cents of land inside the district general hospital premises, Ajjarkad. The project was completed with Rs 37.50 Lakh from the union government and Rs 102.50 Lakh out of Rs 140 Lakh from the state government.
The AYUSH Hospital will provide Panchakarma treatment, Homeopathy, Unani system of outpatient treatment and medicines will be distributed.
Presently, the AYUSH Hospital has only one doctor post filled. More doctors and other staff will be available from the district CSS and Panchakarma department of the district hospital.
Meanwhile, the minister also inaugurated the newly built district level mortuary and the CT Scanning Centre in same compound of the district hospital. The new mortuary has been built at a cost of Rs 80 Lakh and CT Scanning Centre at Rs 4 Crore. The new CT scan centre is built under the private and public partnership.
Dr. Jayamala also participated in the foundation laying ceremony of the new eye hospital building in the same premises. The new hospital building will be constructed at a cost of Rs 1 Crore and is expected to be completed within 10 months.
The minister also inaugurated the Solid and Liquid Waste Management, SLRM unit here meant for disposal of heavy and liquid waste. The unit will be operated from the government hospital in order to solve the problems of waste management.
Speaking to media persons later, Dr. Jayamala said that she was happy to inaugurate the various projects in the district. “People should make use from these projects. The facility of dialysis in the district hospital has been helpful for the poor patients of the district,” she said.
“The Rangayana and Rangamandira will be constructed in the district at a cost of Rs. 7 Crore. The location for the said Rangamandira on 1.37 cents of land at Adi Udupi has already been examined. Shortly the work will begin”, she said.
She lauded the initiatives taken by the district administration in the clean environment movement. “This initiative is a role model in the state. A city like Bengaluru can also solve the problem of waste management by taking a cue from Udupi district”, she said. She also commended Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis for her initiatives in waste management in the district.
MLA Raghupathy Bhat, Zilla Panchayat President Dinakar, Vice President Sheela K Shetty, Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis, District Health Officer Dr. Rohini and other officials were present.
