Midnight hunger cravings lead duo to attack veteran athlete at Katapady

sulatha athleteUdupi: Katapady Sulatha Kamath, a veteran international athlete, was attacked by two men on Saturday, September 15.

The incident occurred at around 3.30 am on Saturday. Sulatha, who runs a tea stall at Katapady along NH 66, suffered a fracture to the nose in the attack.

Police have arrested the accused, who have been identified as Deekshith and Charan Kunder.

Sulatha usually ran her tea stall till late at night. On the night of the incident, she closed her stall at the usual time and went to her home nearby. The arrested accused, came to her house at around 3.30 am and demanded tea and omelettes. Raged by her refusal to meet their demands, they attacked her with a stone and threatened her husband and daughter. The family soon rushed to the police and the two miscreants were immediately arrested from the spot.

Sulatha is under treatment for her injuries at a hospital.
