Manipal Arogya and Dental Arogya Card Scheme 2018 launched

Manipal: The 2018 edition of the social initiative of Manipal Academy of Higher Education called “Manipal Arogya and Dental Arogya Card Scheme” was launched on April 4 at the Dr. TMA Pai Auditorium here.

Sadanand Chathra, Chairman and Managing Partner of Durgamba Motors and former governor of Rotary International, launched the scheme. Speaking on the occasion he said, “The unique features of the card has made it widely acceptable. Such schemes create more awareness in the society and help people to reduce their medical bills.”

Dr.. H S Ballal said, “Manipal Arogya Card is like an umbrella which offers protection at the time of necessity. It is one of the largest non-insurance based and non-governmental healthcare schemes in India. The scheme has an enrollment of 2,54,934 members (lives covered) during the year 2017. We are planning to cover more than 4 lakh members this year.”

“The beneficiaries enrolled in the scheme are spread over about 10 districts in Karnataka, North Kerala and Goa. The benefits of Manipal Arogya Card include 50 percent concession on OPD consultation fee, 25 percent concession on the IP excluding consumables and 30 percent concession on diagnostics. The card is valid in Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, KMC Hospitals, Attavar, Mangalore, KMC Hospital Ambedkar Circle, Dr. TMA Pai Hospital, Udupi and Dr. TMA Pai Rotary Hospital, Karkala. Application forms are also available at these hospitals”, added Dr. Ballal.

On this occasion, Dr. TMA Pai Arogya Sevak Awards 2018 were presented by Dr. H Vinod Bhat, Vice Chancellor, MAHE to George Fernandes MD, St. Milagres Souharda Society and N Manjunath, former president, Press Reporters Association Karnataka for their service to the community in the field of healthcare.

Dr. Poornima Baliga, Pro Vice Chancellor Manipal University, Dr. Pragna Rao, Dean, KMC Manipal, C G Muthana, COO, Kasturba Hospital Manipal, Dr. Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent, Kasturba Hospital Manipal, Dr. Unnikrishnan, Associate Dean, KMC Mangalore, Dr. Anand Venugopal, Medical Superintendent, Saghir Siddiqui, Regional Head & COO KMC Hospitals, Mangalore were present.
