Udupi: District Administration, Department of Tourism, Udupi City Municipal Council, Youth Empowerment and Sports Department and Malpe Development Committee, Animal Husbandry Department, Coastal Tourism Organization and Local Bajana Mandals are jointly organizing Malpe Beach Festival from December 29 to 31, at Malpe Beach, said Deputy Commissioner Jagadeesh.
He was speaking at a press conference held at Satyamurthy Hall in the Municipality building.
The Malpe Beach Festival will be inaugurated on December 29. Drawing competition for children, volleyball for men and throwball for women, sand sculpture, kite flying, dog show will be held with cultural events. The New Year will be welcomed with a fireworks display from 12 midnight to 12:30 pm on December 31.
The DC said that a sum of Rs 5 crore has been kept aside for the development of the Someshwara Beach and Maravanthe Beach. The survey was carried out with the aim of developing all beaches in the district for the Blue Flag tag. He said that the preparations are being made to celebrate the Kapu Light Festival during January end.
Udupi Municipal Councilor Anand Kalolikar, Assistant Director of Kannada and Culture Kumar Bekkeri, Tourism Department Assistant Director Chandrashekhar Nayak, Nirmitika Center Project Director Arun Kumar, Youth Empowerment and Sports Department Roshan Kumar Shetty were present.
