Udupi: Don’t mind me or my political career, focus on your constituency instead, former MLA Pramod Madhwaraj said in response to Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat’s invitation to join the BJP.

Earlier, MLA Raghupathi Bhat had said that the gate was wide open for Madhwaraj if he wants to join the BJP. “Let him fill the application to join the BJP from Malpe,” he added.

Bhat also mentioned that senior BJP leaders had decided to accept Madhwaraj into the party as well.

In response, Madhwaraj asked the BJP MLA to focus on his constituency instead. He said, “Don’t mind me or my future political career. It is better to mind the people in your constituency.”

Alleging that Bhat had never kept his promises to the voters, the former fisheries minister said, “During the election, you promised to resolve the sand-mining issue within one month of coming to power. This has not been fulfilled. The ongoing development works are the ones that were initiated by me when I was an MLA and minister. You have even put a stop to some of the development works.”

Madhwaraj then advised Bhat to work for the people during the remainder of his days in power. “Everyone knows that you won the election by riding the Modi wave and by using Hindutva politics,” he added.
