Udupi: Pramod Madhwaraj, State Minister for Sports, Youth Empowerment and Fisheries declared the state level “Ekalavya, Krida Rathna Awards” here on March 5.
Addressing a press meet at Hotel Kediyoor Mahajan Hall, Madhwaraj said that the various sports awards would be presented on March 7, at the Guru Nanak Bhavan in Bangaluru at 5 PM by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Madhwaraj will preside over the programme in Bengaluru.
The winners of the Ekalavya Award 2016 are Harshith S of Bengaluru for Athletics, Rajesh Prakash Uppar of Dharwad for Basket Ball, Purvisha S Ram of Bengaluru for Badminton, Renuka Dandin of Bagalkot for Cycling, Mayur D Banu of Bengaluru for Shooting, Karthik A of Bengaluru for Volley Ball, Kirthana T K of Bengaluru for Rowing, Ayyappa M B of Bengaluru for Hockey, Malavika Vishwanath of Bengaluru for Swimming, Sukesh Hegde of Karkala, Udupi district for Kabbadi, Gururaj of Kundapur, Udupi district for Weightlifting, Sandeep B Kate of Bagalkot for Kushti and Revathi Naik M of Davanagere for Para Swimming. The Ekalavya awardees will be felicitated with Rs 2 Lakh each with a scroll and silver medal.
The Life Time Achievement awards will be given to two coaches in the state. They are V R Beedu for Athletics and M R Mohite for Swimming. They will be awarded with a cash prize of Rs 1.5 Lakh each with a scroll and silver medal.
The Karnataka Krida Rathna 2016 will be presented to nine achievers. They are Syed Patheshavali H Bepari of Dharwad for Atya-Patya, Yashaswini K G of Hassan for Ball Badminton, Yuvaraj Jain of Dakshina Kannada for Kambala, Muneer Basha of Shivamogga for Kho-Kho, Sugunasagar H Vadrale of Belgaum for Mallkanbha, Sabiya S of Bengaluru for Throwball, Athmashree H S of Chikkamagaluru for Wrestling and Dhanush Babu of Bengaluru for Roller Skating.
The Karnataka Krida Rathna 2016 award winners will get a cash prize of Rs 1 Lakh with a scroll and memento.
