Udupi: Sripada Madhwacharya was a social and religious reformer who declared that the path to salvation is open to all and is not limited by birth. His teachings attracted many followers and revived the Bhaghvatha or Bhakti traditions in Karnataka, said Dinesh Gundurao, Working President of Karnataka State Congress Working Committee.
In his address during the 28th Madhwa Thathwajnana Convention celebration at Rajanagana Sabha Bhavan, Sri Krishna Matt here on Wednesday, February 1, Dinesh Gundurao said that Sri Krishna Matt was one of the most famous spiritual hubs in Karnataka and also in India. The basic tenet of Dvaita philosophy is the refutation of the Mayavada of Sri Shankara. Dvaitha emphasises that the world is real and not just an illusion, he explained.

He said that in the life of a human being peace and love are the ways to spirituality or God. Along with the growth of science an onus on spirituality is important as they go together, he added.

Swamiji of Palimar Matt and other seers also spoke on the philosophy of Sri Madhwacharya.

Pejawar Matt’s Vishwesha Teertha Swamiji gave his presidential address and thanked all those responsible for the successful conduction of convention. He said in his address that Sri Madhwacharya was very near to all religions and castes. “Madhvacharya was the third of trinity of philosophers who influenced Indian thoughts after the ages of the Vedas and Puranas. He came after Sri Shankaracharya and Sri Ramanujarchaya,” he added.

Minister Pramod Madhwaraj was also present during the ceremony. Various talks on Sripada Madhwacharya were held during the convention.
