Udupi: The supporter of miffed Congress leader Muniyal Uday Shetty have warned the Congress of tough times ahead in case the party does not call back the ticket given to Gopal Bhandary and issue the same to Shetty.
Muniyal, is now contemplating on contesting as an independent candidate from Karkala.
Meanwhile, his supporters in large numbers met district Congress President Janardhan Tonse and pressed for their demand.
The supporters said that the party high command has taken a wrong decision by issuing ticket to Gopal Bhandary.
“Muniyal has worked very hard to organise the party and there is no match to him. We have been hurt. We feel cheated when a person of Muniyal’s stature is sidelined, ” supporters said alleging MP and former chief minister Veerappa Moily of working against Muniyal as the prior wanted ticket for his son Harsha Moily.
“Moily destroyed the Congress party in Karkala, ” they said. At the end Janardhan Tonse assured the supporters of Muniyal Uday Kumar Shetty to bring their views to the attention of the Congress High Command on this issue.
