Udupi: The polling for local bodies in Udupi district began in a smooth way on Friday, August 31.
Polls will be held in four Urban local bodies in the district. There are total 35 wards in Udupi City Municipal Council and 98 polling booths have been set up. There are total 97, 561 voters, of which 47538 men and 50022 females.
There are 23 wards in Kundapur and Karkala Town Council each with total 23 polling booths each.
In Saligrama Town Panchayat, there are 16 wards and 16 polling booths.
Udupi CMC will have 98 EVMs, 23 in Kundapura, 23 in Karkala and 16 in Saligrama.
The polls at 9.30 am stood at 13.58 per cent in Udupi, 13.07% in Kundapur, 16.63% in Karkala and 17.68% in Saligrama. Overall district poll percentage was 14.25% at 9 am.
The counting of votes and the results will be declared on Saturday, September 3.
