Last rites of Shiroor Swamiji to be held today, body moved to Udupi

Udupi: After the completion of the post-mortem at the Department of Forensic Medicine of KMC Hospital, the mortal remains of Sri Lakshmivarathirtha Swamiji of Sri Shiroor Mutt has been moved in a decorated open jeep to Udupi.

According to reports, the body would first be taken to Sri Krishna Mutt in Udupi for public viewing. The last rites of the deceased seer would be held at his moola mutt in Shiroor.

Sources said that the forensic experts visited Hiriyadka Shiroor moola mutt to collect samples. 

After the funeral cortege reached Udupi, the body was taken into the Krishna Mutt to complete certain religious rituals. Several followers of Sri Lakshmivaratheertha Swamiji of Sri Shiroor Mutt thronged to the Mutt for a last view of the seer.
