Udupi: After running from pillar to post, making attempts to release her husband, who has been put behind bars in Kuwait, Jyothi Poojary sees a ray of hope in Udupi District Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis.

Jyothi’s husband Shankar Poojary, from Basroor in Kundapura had been living in Kuwait for four years. However, he left back to Kuwait after a leave three months ago. Unfortunately, a crisis was lurking at Shankar this time as he agreed to carry a parcel on the request of his colleague Sadiq.

On reaching Kuwait Shankar was put behind bars as he was detected with medicines without prescriptions at the Kuwait airport.

Following this, Jyothi had written to various authorities including Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj. However, to her bad luck, nothing yielded any result.

In continuation to her struggle, Jyothi met the DC on Thursday and in turn the DC has assured her that the district administration will gather detailed information about Shankar Poojary within two days.
The DC had further told Jyothi that the district administration is on back of the case and is in touch with the External Affairs Ministry and with the Indian Embassy in Kuwait.
It is said that the Ministry of External Affairs has already registered a case in connection with the case. Meanwhile, the DC has also convened an emergency meeting with the Human Rights activists to chalk out ways to free Shankar Poojary at the earliest.
