Udupi: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is confident of winning the upcoming assembly polls in Karnataka. He said that there is a 'Congress Wave' across the state, which will bring the Congress to power again.
Addressing the gathering after launching and inaugurating the developmental works worth Rs 592 crores in Udupi on Monday, January 8, the CM said that he has toured 24 districts of the state and in all places the people are in favour of the Congress. The remaining districts will be covered before January 13, he said.
"We have fulfilled 95 per cent of the promises made five years ago. There are two months to go and we will meet all the promises made. We had made 165 points in the manifesto in 2013, out of which 156 have been fulfilled," he said.
Lauding sitting MLA and Minister Pramodh Madhwaraj, the CM said that the young leader came from a political family, but he still does not have political ambitions. "He has come to serve the people and his pro-people approach is obvious by the kind of work that he has done. His initiatives have helped the fishing community in particular in a very large way," said the CM.
Taking a dig at the BJP, the CM said that no BJP ruled state can boast of pro-poor schemes like Anna Bhagya and the likes, which have been genuinely designed and implemented to help the poor in Karnataka.
"The BJP is filled with publicity mongers. The leaders are reluctant to serve the people. They only play with the sentiments of the people creating hatred among different religions. People are now aware of the realities and the BJP would surely pay for its communal agenda," he said calling upon former CM and BJP Chief B S Yeddyurappa to realise that empty promises do not serve the cause of the society. The CM prophesied that neither the BJP nor the JD(S) has any future in the state.
