Udupi: Under the leadership of its President Ansar Ahmed, the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) staged a silent protest near the War Memorial at Ajjarkad here on April 16, demanding justice for the 8-year-old Kathua rape and murder victim.
The protesters demanded strong punishment to the accused and burned their photos.
Demanding severe punishments to the rape accused, Ansar Ahmed said that the abduction, rape and murder of a child is a shame to all of humanity.
Further he said, “The people of the entire world, including the United Nations, have condemned the Kathua rape and murder of an innocent child. Whenever such incidents take place, people start inquiring about the religion of the victim and the accused. This mentality should change and everyone should think of justice for the victim.”
He said that the political parties should stop using such cases for their political agenda. Instead, he said, they should concentrate their efforts to provide better safety and protection to women and children.
Rehman Padubidri, Sudheer, Santhosh Shetty Panjimaru, Junaid, Rehman, Sahil Rehmutullha, Sandeep, Kishan, Sameer and others were present during silent protest.
