Udupi: Two District Armed Reserve personnel were arrested by the district police in connection to the Double Murder case that took place on January 26, at Chikkanakere of Manoor Grama near Kota.
Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi said that earlier six persons were arrested and two more were nabbed by Sunday. The arrested DAR personnel are Pawan Ameen and Veerendra Acharya, Assistant police constables of Kota Police station. They are believed to have helped main accused Harish Reddy.
As per the investigation in the case by police, both suspended cops had helped in arranging a car, money and phone to the murder accused Harish Reddy to abscond after the crime. Pawan Ameen and Veerendra Acharya were produced before the judge late night at his residence on Sunday and the court has remanded them to Judicial Custody for further investigations.
On the night of January 26, Pawan Ameen allowed Reddy to stay at his home at Kuchhur near Hebri and on the following day, Reddy called Pawan and asked him to arrange for a mobile phone, SIM and other materials. Pawan had obliged and sent the commodities through a man named Pranav Bhat. Later on, Pawan and Veerendra Acharya arranged a car for Reddy and helped him stay at Mallandoor of NR Pura on January 28. Police recovered the car and mobile phones along with SIM and other materials.
Earlier, BJP Zilla Panchayat member Raghavendra Kanchan, Rowdy-sheeter Rajashekar Reddy, Medical Ravi, Harish Reddy, Mahesh Ganiga and Ravichandra Poojary were arrested in the case. Till today, total eight accused in the double murder case have been arrested. It may be recalled that two persons named Yathish and Bharath Kumar were murdered in broad daylight over a fight on issue of toilet pit, on January 26, 2019.
