Udupi : There is acute shortage of drinking water in Kodankoor ward of Udupi City Municipality limit and the CMC is not responding to the drinking water crisis, alleged Mass India Mahiti Seva Samiti NGO President G A Koteyar
Addressing a press meet on Monday, April 1, G. A. Koteyar said that Kodankoor has 500 houses and drinking water paucity was never an issue.
“The deputy commissioner directed the CMC to provide water to the village once in three days. However, the CMC has not responded to the problems faced by the residents. There is a need to clean the public wells in the city so as to overcome the water crisis,” he said.
Koteyar said that last year the CMC spent Rs 95 lacs for supplying water by tankers to the residents of the city. But the residents of Kodankoor ward received hardly 5 to 6 tankers of water. Hence it is understood that the money spent was not justified, he said and demanded action against the council engineer for this issue.
He has alleged that the CMC officials are creating issue though there is no water problem and that the district administration should find out the exact reason behind the scarcity of water and need to supply water at least once in two days.
