Udupi: The first list of JD(S) candidates for the upcoming elections of the Udupi City Municipal Council and Karkala Town Council was released.
The list of candidates for Udupi CMC are as follows: Ramesh Shetty Moodabettu (Moodabettu ward), K Ramesh Shetty ( Shiribeedu ward), Rohith (Karamballi ward), Anitha Shetty (Ajjarkadu), Chandrakala Chitpadi (Kasturba Nagar), Jayakar Poojary (Indira Nagar), Shashidhar M Amin (Vadamandeshwar) and Harif Gundibail (Gundibail). For Karkala Town council there are five candidates while names of remaining candidates will be released soon.
Shetty said that the JD(S) will fight the CMC elections without support from national parties. “The locals are fed up with the rule that the two national parties have given so far. This gives us a very bright chance to win the polls and then work sincerely for the people,” he said adding that most of the problems in Udupi are due to lack of co-ordination between councillors and the officials.
