Udupi: As District In-Charge Minister Dr. Jayamala has been facing the wrath of her own Congress party workers for not taking any action on the lathi charge incident during the September 10 “Bharat Bandh”, called by the AICC. Now again she has become a target for attacks for her alleged arrogant reaction to the farmers’ death row.

When questioned on October 3 about the farmers’ suicide cases, she arrogantly replied, “What is the percentage till date? How many have died? I do not know due to what reasons these deaths have been caused.”

“When two or three such instances are reported, then an investigation is required. The government has gone all out to help the farmers beyond efforts. Chief Minister Kumaraswamy has pleaded with the people of the state that suicide is not the solution to any problem. The farmers of the state must remain patient”, she added.

Jayamala said, “I’m not aware and have no information about the Bharath Bandh and Rafale deal protests. I’ve not been given any report on this matter. I’ve to travel to 30 more districts. Is it possible for me to sit here itself?” She turned grim in sometime and was full of anger.

“Though I am not here physically all the time, I still work for Udupi, being in Bengaluru. I’m concerned about my people”, she said, upholding her sense of responsibility and duty.
