Udupi: The public should be given more information about the social work of the Red Cross, which provides assistance to the sick and the distressed in times of emergencies, said Udupi Zilla Panchayat CEO Preethi Gehlot.
She was speaking while distributing relief kits to the neighbouring victims of the district at the Red Cross House in Udupi on Saturday, October 5.
“The work of the Red Cross has been exemplary in cooperating with the government in the flood emergency. The district administration will cooperate with the Red Cross in their efforts,” Preethi said.
She distributed relief kits to 40 families in the district.
Vice President of the Udupi Red Cross Unit Dr. Ashok Kumar YG welcomed the gathering. Jayarama Acharya delivered a vote of thanks and compered the programme.
National Board Member of the Indian Red Cross Headquarters, Basroor Rajeeva Shetty, Udupi Red Cross Chairperson Dr. Umesh Prabhu, Secretary Balakrishna Shetty and Treasurer Chandrasekhar were present.
