Udupi: The district police seized 380 bags of rice, weighing approximately 10 Tons, along with a truck (KL 56 B 5499) and a Bolero (KA 20 C 6410), on March 13, 2019. The police was also successful in detaining a man who was illegally transporting the rice.
The arrested man is identified CP Shafiq (36), a resident of Helethur of Calicut, Kerala. Another main accused named Rajesh Nayak, however, managed to escape during the raid.
The raid was conducted under the direction of Nisha James, Superintendent of Police, Kumarachandra, Additional Superintendent of Police, T R Jai Shankar, DySP of Udupi, and the supervision by Kiran PSI, DCIB. ASI Ravichandra, Santhosh Kundar, Suresh, Chandra Shetty, Ramu Hegde, Raghavendra Uppunda, Raj Kumar, Shivananda, Dayananda Prabhu and driver Raghavendra were present during the operation.
