Hussainabba’s death case: Three granted bail

Udupi: The Udupi District and Sessions court granted bail to two of the arrested persons in death of cattle trader Hussainabba. Meanwhile, another accused who is still absconding was also granted anticipatory bail on Monday, 18th June, 2018.

The court, after hearing granted bail to accused head constable Mohan Kotwal and a Bajarang Dal activist Prasad Kondady. Tukaram, also a Bajarang Dal activist, who is still absconding was given anticipatory bail.

The court rejected other eight bail applications of the arrested, who are suspended Hiriadka PSI D. N. Kumar, Police Jeep driver Gopal, VHP leaders Suresh Mendon alias Suri who is the main accused in the case, Umesh Shetty, Ratan, Chetan alias Chetan Acharya, Shailesh Shetty and Ganesh. The court ordered judicial custody of these persons till June 28.

PSI D. N. Kumar, Mohan Kotwal and Police Jeep driver Gopal are being represented in the court by lawyers Shantaram Shetty, Vijayakumar Shetty and M Sanjeeva. Advocate Mattaru Rathnakar Hegde, who is also the district President of BJP is the counsel for main accused Suresh Mendon alias Suri and other Bajarang Dal activists.

Meanwhile, the CID team arrived in Udupi for investigating Hussainabba death case on Monday, June 18. The team led by CID DySP Chandrashekar along with eleven CID officials will investigate the case. DySP Chandrashekar also headed the CID investigation of Bhaskar Shetty death case.

Hussainabba was found dead mysteriously on May 30 in Hiriyadka and his family raised suspicion of assault by cattle vigilante group and the police.
