Udupi: JD(S) State President H D Kumaraswamy, on Sunday lashed out at media channels for holding a trial in Kavyashree death case.

Addressing reporters, HDK said that television channels specifically have been holding debates and have been passing judgement into the case. “This must stop. Alva’s institution in Moodubidri has made a name for itself in the entire state and the Nation as well. Lakhs of students studied in this institution and have utilised the hostel facilities. Around 4000 students are benefiting free education in Alva’s institutions. It is not easy to build an institution of repute, but it takes a second to destroy the same. The government needs to act responsibly in the case,” he said adding that developmental projects in the state have halted as both ruling and opposition parties are busy playing politics.

Though both Udupi and Dakshina Kannada District had the potential to grow like Bengaluru, HDK said that unfortunately the region has been billed off as a communally sensitive region. “Section 144 was in place in trouble pockets of Dakshina Kannada for a month because the government failed to handle the situation,” he said adding that District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai has failed miserably and that the administrative machinery is being misused to develop tension among the people.

“Rai is a minister for namesake, but unfortunately such rubber stamp ministers are being given important portfolios like home. Siddaramaiah should explain how exactly Kempaiah is important to run the administration,” he said.

The elected representatives in Mangaluru are playing double game in naming of Mulki Sunder Ram Shetty to the road. Government has passed the resolution and the Urban Development department had planned to rename the road as MSRS road for his contribution to the society.

He further said that the JD(S) will have candidates in every district and field candidates in all 224 seats in the state.

Yogish Shetty JD(S) district president, Kenchanoor Shalini shetty Women’s wing president, Bojegowda, Vasudeva Rao, Anitha Shetty and other among were present during the press meet.
