Udupi: After nearly a decade of embarking on his political journey with the JD(S), Louis Lobo is all set to join the Congress Party on April 22 during the Congress conclave to be held at Royal Garden, Udupi.
A retired bank employee, Lobo had plunged into politics through JD(S) in 2002 and held the Office of District Minority President, State Minority wing convener, District Vice President of the parent body, and also served as Election Agent for the Udupi Lok Sabha Candidate. Due to the internal differences within the party, he had resigned from the Primary Membership of the party immediately during the last Vidhana Sabha Election.
Apart from politics, he was also involved in religious, social and other service organizations. He was the President of the Catholic Sabha of Kalmady Church for two terms, Vice President of the Parish Council for two terms, and was also the convener of the Church Building Committee of the newly-built Stella Maris Church, Kalmady. He was an active member of Komu Sahaurda Vedike, Dalitha DamanithaVedike, Alpa Sankhyatha Vedike etc. He was the Founder President of the International Federation of Karnataka Christian Associations of Udupi District (IFKCA) for 4 years. During his stewardship, a massive protest was held against the final report of the Justice Somashekar Commission on Church Attack. He also organized the Christian Communality Businessmen and formed the Karavali Christian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Regd).
After a long gap of nearly four years, Lobo has started his second innings in politics through Congress Party headed by Rahul Gandhi, the party which believes and stands for democracy, Secularism, Pluralism and Constitution.
