Former DySP Anupama Shenoy to contest assembly election from Kaup-1

Udupi: Anupama Shenoy, former Deputy Superintendent of Police, is all set to open a new chapter in her life - politics. The fire brand former civil servant is likely to contest from Kaup legislative assembly constituency in the forth coming assembly election. She had earlier announced that she would be contesting from the Kudligi constituency, the place where she was last posted. However, Kudligi being a reserved constituency, she has now decided to contest from her native Kaup.

She already has undertaken door-to-door campaigning in the Kaup constituency and found that a large number of youth are standing by her and are supporting her party - Bharatiya Janashakthi Congress, which will get recognition from the election commission of India by January end.

She said that Kaup is her birth place and most of the people know her very well, which will be an advantage for her.

She wants to field candidates in all 224 assembly constituencies of Karnataka and said that she would prefer to have youth contesting in the polls.

"The objectives of the party will be to root out corruption, eradication of untouchability, pro-women stand and environmental protection," she said.

Last year, Shenoy got into a heated fight with Labour Minister PT Parameshwara Naik, for unclear reasons, after which she tendered her resignation.
