Udupi: Kyananur Forest Disease (KFD) which is popularly known as monkey disease was under total control all these days in this summer. Since June 2020, no case has been reported from any of the Malanad districts of the state.
However, first confirmed KFD case has now been reported from Siddapura in Uttara Kannada district.
A 51 years old woman tested positive for the KFD and she has been rushed to a private hospital in Manipal.
According to the authorities, on February 14 she had developed fever at first. As her health deteriorated, she was rushed to the private hospital in Manipal where now it is confirmed that she has KFD.
As the news spread, the health department authorities decided to launch massive vaccination drive in the affected area.
