Udupi: The fight between two drunk co-workers ended in the murder of one of them inside a fishing boat at Malpe.
The deceased has been identified as Preetham (24), a native of Assam. Preetham and many other crew members had gone fishing on December 10.
They returned to Malpe on December 16 and anchored the boat at Baputhota deck, in Malpe. While all the workers in the boat went back to their homes after emptying the boat, Preetham and his co-worker Maruthi stayed back in the boat. However, on December 17, when Dattaraj, the owner of the boat came, he found blood in the boat cabin. He later found the dead body of Preetham in the engine room with severe injuries on the head. A police complaint was filed. It is said that Maruthi and Preetham may have fought under influence of alcohol. Maruthi is now absconding.
