Elephant electrocuted in Sullia

Sullia: In a tragic incident that occurred in Herakaje a wild elephant was electrocuted here on August 8.

The elephant had come in search of food to the Nalkur forest area belonging to Subrahmanya forest range. The forest officials came to know about the incident when Chinnappa Gowda farmer in the area saw the dead elephant which was electrocuted. He also informed them that his plantation has been vandalised by the animal.

District deputy conservator of forests, O Palayya, Assistant conservator of forests, Dr Dinesh, range forest officer, Subbaiah Naik, Panja range forest officer, Praveen Kumar Shetty, Subrahmanya range forest officer visited the area.

Wildlife officials performed the final rites by consigning to flames the remains of the elephant.
