Udupi: "This election is between the lies of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and truth of Congress party", said MLC Ivan D’Souza.
Addressing a press meet at Congress Bhavan here on Saturday, April 6, Ivan D’Souza said that BJP in 2014 came to power with so many promises for the people of the country, but it failed to fulfill them. "Siddaramaiah, the former chief minister of Karnataka has fulfilled all promises made to the people of Karnataka. The Congress will always stick to truth, even if it is unpalatable," he added.
Ivan questioned the contribution of the Modi government towards Karnataka and also the initiatives by the Centre for the development of the state. "Modi made the rich people richer and the poor poorer", he said.
"There is a severe threat to the democratic system of the nation. BJP MP Ananth Kumar Hegde has said that the BJP needs to change the Indian Constitution. The democratic system of the country is in danger," he alleged.
Ivan also accused the BJP of not allotting seats for the minorities in the upcoming election.
He said that the Congress-Janata Dal (S) coalition candidate for Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Constituency, Pramod Madhwaraj would surely win the election.
Several BJP workers joined the Congress Party after the press meet and Ivan D’Souza handed over the Congress flags to them.
Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, Dinesh Puthran, M A Gaffoor, Naveenchandra Shetty, Bhaskar Rao Kidiyoor and other congress leaders were present during the press meet.
