EC launches three Apps to facilitate free and fair polls

Udupi: The Election Commission has launched the Samadhan, Suvidha and Sugaama apps to help with the smooth and transparent election process in the state.

These apps were launched by the Udupi district Deputy Commissioner (DC) Priyanka Mary Francis here on Saturday, April 7.

After the launch at the DC’s office in Rajathadri, Manipal near here, the DC she said that these apps will help the voters in participating in a transparent election process.

With the Samadhan app, political parties, election officials and members of the public can register a complaint at the taluk, district and state level and can avail necessary information. URL : http://164.100.128.76/samadhan live/

Using the Suvidha app in relation to canvassing the election, political parties can request permission for election meetings, rallies, vehicles, temporary election office, sound system and helicopters and helipads. The request for permission needs to be registered two days in advance by use of this app and after filling the records, one can upload the same in this app. URL : http:/164.100.128.75/suvidha kt/

The DC also said that the election commission recognized the significance of television and the coverage of the elections. Its reach is widespread and its impact substantial. On the one hand, television can be misused to favour one party or another. But, on the other hand, the EC recognizes that the television can, if used properly, can be an important source of information by providing the widest first hand education to voters on political parties, their symbols, the various leaders and the different issues in the election.

DC Francis also released the Audio and Video CD on voter awareness and Vote Invitation at the launch ceremony. She said the CD contains Kannada and Tulu songs and Yakshagana songs on voter awareness, as well as voice messages of famous persons on voter awareness. International Kabadi player Mamatha Poojary’s and Karate Champion Karthik Kateel’s messages are also included urging the young and old to come out and vote in the upcoming Assembly elections on May 12.

During the press meet, Shivanand Kapasi, CEO Zilla Panchayat, Anuradha G, Additional Deputy Commissioner and Rohini, District Information Officer were present.
