Udupi: After the routine phone-in programme held on Saturday, November 17, SP Laxman B Nimbargi informed that the Udupi police would be conducting a week-long drive against shrill horns and tinted glasses of the vehicles in the district.
He was addressing the media at the district police office when he said that strict action would be taken against those in violation of the rules concerning horns and tinted glasses.
He added that this time, the vehicle itself would be confiscated as the violations keep occurring despite the imposition of fines.
At the phone-in programme, complaints were received regarding drunken loitering near the KSRTC bus stand, auto rickshaw drivers overcharging ride fares in the Kallianpur-Santhekatte area and illegal stone mining in Belur village. The SP assured that action would be taken in all the cases.
