Dalit man with renal problem dies, family alleges medical negligence

Udupi: A dalit man’s death has stirred up a controversy after his family alleged medical negligence.

Bhaskar (36) of Perampalli-Gerukatte was suffering from renal problems and when he visited the government hospital here, the doctors told him that he was fine, alleged his family members.

His brother Nagaraj said that the doctors had sent Bhaskar back with some medicines, but the medicines failed to bring any solace.

“Bhaskar was admitted to Udupi District Hospital two days ago but the doctors asked us to shift him to Wenlock hospital in Mangaluru. On reaching Wenlock, they asked us to take him to a private hospital. However, on the way to Manipal, Bhasker breathed his last, ” said Nagaraj.

Harish 32, decreased Bhasker’s younger brother had died two years ago. Within two years, the family lost two sons due to the negligence of the government hospitals, alleged Nagaraj.
