Udupi: Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh has instructed officials of the environment department not to grant permission to start new industries in various industrial areas in the district.
He was speaking at the district office on Wednesday while chairing a meeting on industrial issues and the problems and changes that the district is facing.
The establishment of new industries that cause environmental pollution will interfere with the functioning of the already busy industries and the permanent closure of food processing, packing and other food-related industries will also make it difficult for the workers who trust these industries. G Jagadeesh suggested that the environment department and the industrial area take more precautions when approving new industries.
At the meeting, there was extensive discussion on the applications for the establishment of enterprises in various industrial zones in the district. The DC suggested that the use of the land acquired for industrial purposes be used for other purposes as well.
DC Jagadeesh advised lead bank manager Rudresh to address the problems faced by the industry in the banking sector, inviting the representatives of the industry to the district lead bank meeting, listening to their problems at the meeting and providing proper assistance.
Ramananda Nayak, Managing Director of Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation, Gokul Das Nayak, Joint Director of District Industrial Center, IR Fernandes, Chairman of Industrial Association and various department officials and various industrialists were present.
