CM Siddaramaiah to launch Rs 581 Cr-developmental projects in Udupi

Udupi: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will be launching developmental projects worth Rs 581 Crore in Udupi Assembly constituency during a function to be held at Brahmavar Gandhi Maidan here on January 8 afternoon, said Pramod Madhwaraj, District In-charge Minister and Minister for Fisheries, Sports and Youth Empowerment.
 
Addressing media persons at the Press Club here on January 5, Madhwaraj informed that Rs 509 Crore worth of developmental projects would be launched while Rs 72 Crore worth developmental projects were slated to be inaugurated during the programme.
 
The chief minister will be inaugurating nearly ten projects on the day which includes a bridge over Sithanadi at Kuradi-Nilavar Road Panchameena built at a cost of Rs 9 Crore, Rs 1.50 Crore worth Zilla Panchayat Training Centre at Manipal, Library Building of Government First Grade College, Barkur costing Rs 0.60 Crore, Rs 49 Crore worth Malpe second stage jatti project , Rs 1.51 Crore Commercial Centre at Santhekatte, Gopalpura ward of Udupi CMC, Rs 3.053 Crore Agricultural Centre Road development at Herroor and road development projects-from H.C. T-15 Heroor School Road development costing Rs 2.636 Crore, from Kemmannu Jyothi Nagar to Nejar 6th cross costing Rs 1.671 Crore, Nejar Jangamarabettu to Nidamballi Kemmannu costing Rs 2.261 Crore and Karje Haluvalli Inkladi Road development at a cost of Rs 1.312 Crore. The total cost of these above-mentioned projects sum up to Rs 72.54 Crore.
 
The chief minister will also lay the foundation stone for the bridges to be built at Perampalli–Paskudru and Thimmana Kundru at Kemmanu worth Rs 4 Crore and R 5 Crore respectively, Road development projects worth Rs 12 Crore, Udupi Central KSRTC bus stand worth Rs 31 Crore, Gandhi Bhavan worth Rs 3 Crore, Udupi city water distribution and drainage development under ADB and Amruth projects worth Rs 370 Crore, under state government special grants, drainage and road development projects worth Rs 10 Crore, bridge at Kalsanka worth Rs 0.75 Crore, under Nagarathna scheme drinking water, road development, rain water drainage and other developmental works worth Rs 35 Crore, women’s hostel for SSLC passouts at Manipal worth Rs 3.14 Crore, air conditioned indoor stadium development worth Rs. 1.21 Crore, cricket stadium at Gandhi Maidan, Brahmavar.
 
He said that promises made during the last assembly elections to supply 24 hours electricity and 24 hours water to Udupi City Municipality are being met with. “Already MESCOM has been providing proper electricity in Udupi. The second project to provide 24 hours water to Udupi city will be fulfilled and the chief minister will lay the foundation stone for the supply of Varahi water to Udupi City Municipality. The proposed Simbra dam planning has been dropped for technical reasons. Varahi water will be supplied by pipes to Udupi City Municipality limits”, he said.
 
Pramod said that regarding the Brahmavar Sugar Factory, a proposal had been sent to sugar related departments. Every year during Paryaya, the state government sanctions grants to develop the roads in the Udupi city limit.
 
Meenakshi Madhav Bannaje, President of Udupi City Municipal Council and Narasimhamoorthy, President of Udupi Urban Development Authority were present in the press meet.
