Udupi : The central and state government are indulging in political gimmicks rather than working for the development of people, especially the farmers alleged Boje Gowda, JDS State General Secretary.
Addressing a press meet here at Udupi Press Club on Friday, August 11 he stated that the government should clarify that revocation of farm loans to the extent of Rs 50,000 per farmer as announced by chief minister Siddaramaiah recently pertains to which year i.e 2016-17 or 2017-18. Considering the drought situation in the state the government had also said that it would waive farm loans availed through cooperative societies but no amount has been deposited in farmers’ bank account so far.

Despite collecting premiums from farmers towards crop loss, compensation has not been given to farmers in most cases and the company has made huge profits.
He mentioned that the state BJP leaders, including state party president B S Yeddyurappa and MP Shobha Karndlaje should bring these matters to the notice of BJP national president Amit Shah during the latter’s state visit on August 12.
Yogish Shetty, District President of JDS party, Vasudev Rao, Anitha Shetty, Shekar Kotian, Shalini Shetty Kenchanoor, Jayakumar Parkala and others were present during the press meet.
