Udupi: Public transportation in the Udupi district has been suspended for a period of 14 days as the number of COVID-19 cases is on the rise.
Additionally, the borders of the district have already been sealed in an attempt to curb the spread of the disease.
On Saturday, July 18, Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh many passengers were being allowed to commute in public transport vehicles even without the proper safety measures.
“More than 25 cases have been filed in this regard. But still, the people, bus owners, drivers, and conductors were ignoring the rules, which is why the bus services have been suspended, the DC informed.
Bus services in the district will resume on July 29, he added.
