Udupi: In order to “expose the anti-Hindu” policy of the state government, the BJP will conduct a Mangaluru Chalo–Jana Suraksha Yatra in the coastal region, said Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, District BJP President.

Addressing a press conference at BJP District office here on February 28, Hegde said that the BJP had decided to organise Jana Suraksha Yatra to create public awareness on the “anti-Hindu policy” of the Siddaramaiah government. The party has demanded a ban on “anti-national” organisations like PFI and SDPI, handing over of murder cases of Hindu activists in the state to CBI among others.

He said that the yatra would start from two points, i.e., from Ankola in Uttara Kannada district under the leadership of Ananth Kumar Hegde and Shobha Karandlaje and Kushalnagar in Kodagu district under the leadership of Nalin Kumar Kateel and Pratap Simha on March 3. Both the yatras will conclude on March 6 in Mangaluru city, he said.

In Udupi district, the yatra will start from Byndoor at 9 AM on March 5 and reach Uppunda at 10 AM. A public meeting will be held at Uppunda. At Kundapura, the yatra will start from Kundapura Sangam Circle at 11 AM and will culminate at Shastri Circle where a public meeting will be held.

Later at 3 PM, the yatra will commence from Ambagilu junction at Udupi and reach Kinnimulki via Kalsanka and a public meeting will be held. On March 6, it will start from Katapady at 9 AM and reach Kaup at 12 noon. Public meeting will be held at Kaup.

Mattar said that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will address the public meeting at Nehru Maidan, Mangaluru on March 6 and nearly one lakh people are expected to participate in the programme.

Former MLA Raghupathy Bhat, Kulaidy Suresh Nayak, Yashpal Suvarna, Kuthyar Naveen Shetty, Katapadi Shankar Poojary, Shreesha Nayak and Shymala Kundar were present.
